Okay, so I've been jobless for 2 days now. Yes, it's depressing. The part time OC concierge staff got retrenched because Far East Organization finally realized that we're not needed in the mall. Frankly speaking, we all knew that long ago, and we also knew we were gonna get sacked sooner or later, but nevertheless did we think it'd be that soon. I feel cheated though because firstly, we submitted our roster for the entire month of January and they just dismissed us right smack n the middle of the month. An email from the assistant manager was sent to a full timer and we got the forwarded copy. Basically, they sacked us through an email. The FEO management and work ethics suck! They can be so ball-less sometimes. Sigh. Good bye Orchard Central.
My last day of work was on Saturday. After which I had dinner with Hazel and headed home to wait for Dear to pick my up and we headed his friends place for Malaysian Durians! A couple of friends and Darling Keong drove into JB for a durian galore. I never knew that Malaysian durians tasted so awfully goooood! The durian flesh, soft and creamy. Totally heaven. However it polluted our car so we had drive with the windows down for a few days.
Meet my Durian King Keong!
Enjoy now, Suffer later. Sounds familiar huh? After durian eating that night, I felt damn heaty and on the verge of getting sick. But I wasn't gonna let that stop me from fulfilling my wish of staying at the Hard Rock Hotel.
On Sunday, my Dear & I enjoyed our 2 day 1 night getaway stay on at The Hard Rock hotel, Resort World Singapore (RWS). Big thanks to my sister who got us the room at ONLY $38/night, including breakfast for 2. If you're wondering why it's so cheap, that's because it was an opening promotion for staff & their family. I count myself lucky to be able to have the privilege of being the first few people to stay there!
Because it was the weekend, the lobby area was very crowded, most of the guests were the typical Singaporean families and their obnoxious children. Even the ah ma, ah kong, uncle aunty came. For what I don't know? Maybe they all squeezed into 1 room! Hmm. Anyway, my sister calls it "the weekend zoo". Also due to the overwhelming response to the promotion, we were told to wait an 1 hour for a clean room. Lucky us (well actually thanks to sister), we didn't have to wait that long till we got our room.
We got a poolside room so from the balcony this is what you'd see. The more I look at it, the more it reminds me of Batam View Resort. Except that the connecting pool here is much much bigger with decks and sofas AND real palm tress and sand.

We got a deluxe room with 2 queen sized beds and 1 roll out bed.
What I loved most about the room were the Jimmy Hendrix pictures hung above the head rest. Cool ain't it?

The hotel was totally"bling-ing". This is the hanging chandelier lamp at the bed side. Although it's not made of real crystals, I bet the person who designed this lamp had a hard time placing the hard plastic crystals together. There's like thousands of them!

This is the bathroom. There's no common door but the shower and toilet area have glass panels.
Too bad there's no tub but look, there's MORE "bling" designs on the toilet walls.

After checking out the room, we decided to rest and find something good to watch on TV.
Channels included MTV, HBO, ESPN and Chinese STAR movies.

Chris joined us in the evening and soon, it was dinner time. We drove out to Bikini Bar for dinner, and headed back to the hotel since my sister volunteered to conduct a short tour of the rest of the place. Mr and Mrs Teng dropped by too!

MORE BLING! Check out the lifts. Doesn't it look like we're in some kinda club?

This is Hard Rock's lobby. Guests are welcomed with R&B Hip hop music in the lobby. On top of that, the staff dress in black long sleeves (for men), purple (for ladies) and skinny dress pants. They are also allowed to have colored hair and tattoos, all because this compliments the Hard Rock theme. There is also a Rock Shop and lobby lounge/bar at the lobby.

Just a 5 minutes walk away and we've reached Festive Hotel. This hotel is more family-oriented for example, the rooms include bunk beds. On the second floor, there is a Brazilian BBQ restaurant. But in time to come, there will be a Festive Wok which will offer hawker style foods.

Connected to Festive hotel is the Galleria. The Galleria has all the expensive boutiques like Tag Heuer, Coach and even cosmetics such as Chanel etc. I couldn't resist but to take a picture with the VS shop. Can't wait till it's opened! :D

Next, we visited the Casino. It's not open for operation yet. Refer to picture on the left, those are the escalators that brings you down 2 levels to the Casino. I can already imagine those aunties, uncles and high rollers making their way down those escalators. The entrance to the Casino kinda looks like the MRT gantrys where you have to tap your EZ link card, doesn't it? Oh, and check this out, there is a Casino Entry Levy station for foreign gamblers. Although I've not been to Genting yet (yeah I know, I'm sua ku) those who have already been said that this atmosphere of the Casino totally has the Genting style, such as having similar pattern on pillars and floor tiles.

Festive Grand is also located on the same level as the Casino. It's a theater that includes Cabaret performances and plays every evening. Kinda looks kinda like the broad way theater in the States.

In the middle of the lobby area of Crockfords Tower and Hotel Michaels, there is this million dollar sculpture. It's suppose to represent Adam & Eve. Look closely and Eve (on right), she's holding onto an apple. 2 questions, why is Adam' penis not proportionate to his body and why are they so fat??? Crockfords is strictly for invited guests only e.g high rollers and VIPs, while Hotel Michaels will be for VIPs but will be opened for public as well. Just higher rates apply.

Okay so I got a little bored and started taking random self timer pictures. Spot our tiny heads in the first picture? OOh, AND check out the Panasonic Iphone/Ipod dock that is also a CD player and radio. You'd never guess who much it cost though, unbelievable!

Currently, there are only 4 out of 6 hotels are opened, my favorite so far is still The Hard Rock hotel. According to my sister, they are aiming to open Universal Studios hopefully by next week. The next morning Darling Keong had to wake up early to go to work. So I woke up with him and saw him off. I couldn't go back to sleep after so I put on my sweat shirt and headed down for breakfast with Chris. Breakfast starts at 730 and ends at 10 am. I must say, the international spread was good considering that it was only a trial run. My favorites in the buffet line that morning were the eggs, waffle and pancake station. By then, my stomach was too full to try the the Asian cuisines, mee siam and nasi lemak. Definitely going back there soon when the pool and rest of RWS are opened!
Good idea for my 20th birthday which is in 4 months. I hope everything would be done by then :)

Before we checked out, I got my bf this:
It's a Hard Rock collector's item, it's a bass guitar pin. I thought it'd be sweet because he plays bass and all. Hope he likes it!
So that concludes my short 2 day 1 night stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. The only down side to all this is that I'm still running a fever, and it's been 2 days already. It's goes and comes whenever it feels like it. I really hate to be sick, please pray for a quick recovery. Great timing too, just as I'm without a job, I fall sick. Sigh.
